Why I'm Running
I'm running for Simpsonville City Commissioner because I believe in doing what is right, even when it's not easy. That belief didn't start with this campaign. It started decades ago, at a school called DePaul.
Where It Began
I walked into DePaul as a young student in 1979. Before that, school felt like something I was surviving, not something shaping my future. DePaul changed that. It gave me structure, confidence, and self-worth, and it taught me that my voice mattered and that I had a responsibility to use it.
I graduated in 1988, and years later, when I became a mother, there was no question where my children would begin their own educational journey. All five of my children came up through DePaul, just as I did. My daughters went on to earn degrees in fields like kinesiology, creative writing, and interior design, each continuing on to a master's degree. My son graduated from DePaul last year and now attends Trinity High School.
DePaul taught me to speak up, stand firm, and do what's right, even when it's hard. Those lessons have shaped everything I've done since.
A Career Built on Service
I hold a Master's degree in Public Health from Purdue University and a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville. For more than 30 years, I've worked in healthcare and social services, on the front lines of some of life's hardest moments.
Today I serve as a Case Manager, connecting individuals and families to housing, resources, and long-term solutions that improve their quality of life. I'm also the Founder and CEO of Hatching House Mentoring Services, a nonprofit committed to empowering youth through mentorship, education, and community support, where I've led strategic growth, built partnerships, and developed programs that create real opportunities for young people to succeed.
Throughout my career, I've provided emotional support to individuals facing trauma and crisis, led workshops on self-sufficiency and financial literacy, and worked alongside multidisciplinary teams to help people move forward with dignity and purpose.
Why I'm Running
As a candidate for Simpsonville City Commissioner, I bring a results-driven mindset, a deep commitment to service, and a clear mission: to be an advocate for doing what is right for the people of this community.
I'm ready to listen, lead, and work alongside residents to build a stronger, more connected Simpsonville, where every family has the opportunity to thrive.
